What's the Difference between a Dedicated Server and a Dedicated IP

Just like a home or business address, an IP address is a unique protocol that identifies the host on a server for a website or content. An IP
address is a universal concept, but this changes in terms of how the content is hosted. There are several reasons why it is important to determine how content is stored on a server. A Dedicated IP address and dedicated server each play a critical role.

Security and Knowledge Management

A dedicated IP address, in terms of security, allows for a unique identity online. An IP address that is dedicated not only gives a unique identity, but it also has the ability to mask presence online for security of the content. For example, if you have a residential address and a business post office box, the post office box would be similar to a dedicated IP address by masking the personal information associated with you in a residential address.

The dedicated server hosts content on a dedicated space. Content is not shared and therefore receives less influence of being targeted for security issues. SSL certification and upgraded support create more options on a server. This is comparable to having one hard drive that stores several user accounts that are shared versus a separate user account having its own separate hard drive.

Access to Bandwidth

A dedicated IP address routes traffic to one address instead of a dynamic address that changes over time. Bandwidth is the same, but with a static IP address, higher T1 lines and fiber can be utilized for direct access to data. A dedicated server allows for a dedicated amount of space. More importantly, this space is accessed quickly and efficiently compared to shared hosting. This dedicated bandwidth allows access to support and resolving of traffic issues.

In other words, the IP address accommodates a direct line to the dedicated server. You could compare this to calling a direct line number that will gain instant access to a specific person on that line. The IP address is this direct line. The dedicated server is the end route of this line of communication. Instant access to communication occurs. In a shared hosting server with a dynamic IP address the communication is similar to a multi-line phone in a busy office. An incoming call will reach different, but equally important representatives of the 'content'. However, the user may be placed on hold until the content is reached.

AMOLED display coming to Samsung Galaxy Tab range

This is a guest post by Erica about the arrival of AMOLED display to Samsung Galaxy Tab range.Samsung could be transplanting a seven inch AMOLED screen into an upcoming addition to its Galaxy Tab range of tablet computers.

You may have experienced an AMOLED display in a small portable device before as Samsung, Nokia and HTC have all used them in smartphones to date. However, the expense of producing AMOLED screens has prohibited them from appearing on larger devices like tablets, until now.

The seven inch Galaxy Tab was launched last year but an update with an AMOLED screen would be most welcome, cutting energy consumption and improving colours and contrast ratios across the board.

The rumours about this device state that it will run Android 3.0, feature a three megapixel camera on the rear, a two megapixel snapper on the front and have a display resolution of 1024x600 which is not bad for a device of this size.

The hardware powering the new Galaxy Tab will consist of a 1.2GHz processor w…
